I really liked the previous brown loafers that Thorogood produced, one the most comfortable work shoes I have ever owned, even better than Red Wings which were much more expensive. Those have been discontinued and replaced with these. The shoe looks very similar, except it no longer comes in brown and it more comfortable. Only caveat is while the sole feels thicker the height of the heel to the toe is noticeable when standing. I am not sure about longevity yet as I have only had these a short while now. They are however very comfortable in my opinion if you can get past the angle of the insole. I will definitely buy moreof these to replace there elders in brown. These shoes are perhaps a bit on the heavy side because they are steel toed, but I feel very stable while wearing them. I can't use my arch supports with them because it makes the shoes too tight, but, the shoe inserts provided give me the necessary support to stand for prolonged periods of time and walking on cement floors. My complaint about these shoes is despite the >$100.00 price tag, the lace these shoes with shoe strings that remind me of black dental floss. My best description is the shoe laces I used with my military low quarters. I hated them so bad that I went to a store about a differ set of thicker laces more to my liking and, doing so improved the appearance of the shoes. I had to wear them a few times to break them in but, afterwards, they are very comfortable and the soles are not slippery.too small tightGreat shoes, made greater by the fact that they have safety toe boxes. I highly recommend them to anyone who spends their day standing on hard surfaces. One shoe fit perfectly, the other was very tight on top, causing severe pain.Excellent made in USA product. Two thumbs up!This makes the fourth pair of these shoes I have owned over the last several years. The first pair I bought, I was in love with, wore them for a couple of years and ordered two more pairs just like the first. Those shoes were excellent, and have lasted for many years. Time to replace a pair, so I ordered another pair of these shoes. When the shoes arrived, I put them on and they felt great. I noticed the laces were a different material, but whatever, the shoes felt nice. After only a few days of wearing them, I noticed that the stitched seams on both shoes were separating and the threads were fraying, AND the laces were already coming apart.I was shocked, as I have been wearing these brand/model of shoe for years with absolutely no trouble what so ever. I complained to the seller, who was great by the way. They emailed me a return label, I returned the shoes and they promptly sent me another pair, direct from Thorogood this time.Same story....just like the last pair, poor stitching coming apart and crappy laces. What a shame....I thought the first pair was a fluke, but now after getting a second pair, I know I have to move on and try a new company. Not sure what is going on at Thorogood, but it is a total shame. They were the best boots I had ever owned and had my complete loyalty. Time to move on.It is comfortable and durable. What else to ask for?
