After hearing many reports of coil springs releasing from cheap coil spring compressors (the 2 screw type) and causing serious injury I thought I would buy this safety cage for my Scangrip Canvik Basic Coil Compressor before repairing my wife's car.Although the cage was sold by SW-Stahl it actually came with a Canvik - Made in Denmark sticker/box. As Scangrip supply many other distributers this cage will also fit some Draper Expert / HD Sykes Pickavant branded Coil Spring Compressors. It came flat packed so a little self assembly is reqd. The sample supplied was in a blue colour not the red pictured. The weight is 13KG so you can tell that it is strong and well made.The Canvik Basic and Plus coil spring compressors fit exactly into a location slot in the base, The cage part opens upwards so you can easily locate the McPherson strut into the cage before you tighten up the coil spring compressor. You can either bolt this cage onto a table or mount to the wall with the bracket supplied. I just clamped in onto a table for use.An easy device to use that took out some of the perceived risk associated with dismantling coil springs from struts. Luckily I did not have to test the safety of this device whilst using it in anger!I paid only £27.91 for this cage inc delivery from Germany, so always check the price before you buy!
