VetroSafe's polycarbonate lens includes OD5+ sodium flare blocking removing 99.999% of sodium flare emissions. Infrared Light Blocking Near-infrared light between 780-2000nm can cause eye damage and cataracts. VetroSafe lenses include 95% infrared blocking to enable the lens to be used in both soft and hard glass flameworking. Accurate Color Vision VetroSafe lenses are created using a mathematical optimization process to achieve a neutral gray tint less than 0.01 xy units from neutral, removing the unnatural blue tint found in standard didymium lenses. 420nm Blue-Light Filtering The blue flame of a glass flameworking torch emits potentially harmful UV and HEV blue-light. VetroSafe lenses include a blue-light filter that blocks 99% of HEV blue-light between 400nm to 420nm. DIDYMIUM-ALTERNATIVE POLYCARBONATE LENS: Traditional didymium glass lenses are heavy and do not have sufficient protection against infrared and blue-light without extra welding shade lenses, adding weight and bulk. VetroSafe's VSF-3.0 Shade 3 lens provides equivalent functionality to didymium lenses with improved impact resistance, and lower weight thanks to its optical-grade polycarbonate base.

FOR SOFT AND HARD GLASS FLAMEWORKING: Shade 3.0 lens is suitable for soft glass lampworking and the majority of borosilicate (boro) flameworking. Shade 3.0 lens blocks 100% of UV light and 95% of near-IR infrared light.
