This is the 2nd height extender I have owned. Let the first one go when I no longer needed it and it took up too much space (non-folding model). Now my wife needs it, so got this one. Very happy with it, and will definitely keep it when she no longer needs it. Very solid, made as well as one needs—nothing elegant, but who cares. The plastic parts seem durable enough. Unit is more than strong enough for me at 160 lbs. Fits over our oval toilet just fine. Details we wished we knew in advance: height to top of seat at max height: 22.5”, Height to bottom of chute at max height: 17.5”. Width between arms 18”, seat dimensions 13.25” x 18.25”. This is definitely a round seat—the extra depth is for the hinge area. Issues to be aware of: the arms get in the way when wiping, but are nice for getting up and down. The arm width might be an issue if you are pushing its 300 lb weight limit. For male members of the household, you need to watch your aim when sitting down—our supposedly “tall” toilet bowl is 15”. The 1.5” gap between the bottom of the chute and the top of our toilet bowl is large enough for a urine stream to go through, leaving a puddle of piss on the floor. (No, not bragging, you just hang down a lot farther than you might think when sitting down). Would probably be worse with a standard height toilet and/or a round bowl toilet. I expect I will tape on a deflector. Would have been fine if the chute was an inch or two longer, but then it might have hung down to far at minimum height, and/or would have made the box it came in have to be bigger. This wasn’t a problem with our non-folding model. Not sure if it wasn’t as high, or if its chute was longer, most likely both.Despite the issues (and they are all going to have some) we’re really happy with it—it’s really reduced my wife’s knee pain in getting up and down. Definitely recommend it, and it will store in a ~ 6-8” thick box when you (hopefully) don’t need it any more.
