Every item - right down to the last hard-working detail - can be traced back to 1937 when our passion for footwear was born. It started with a tough farm boot and a simple belief that boots should work as hard as the people wearing them.Thousands of styles and refinements later, Georgia Boot continues to do whatever it takes to give workers, farmers and hunters exactly what their feet are asking for. For every harsh condition on the job or in the field, there's a design from Georgia Boot to provide comfort and protection. Whoever you are, whatever you do, wherever you need to go. Great boot. Width is perfect as I have a wider foot. Support is good and they look great!12/01/19 Update: I knocked one star off my rating because after starting to wear my boots just around the house for normal chores they both started to have a high pitch squeak. I'm going to give them maybe another month to see if it stops, but will absolutely have to take Georgia up on their one year warranty if it doesn't because I won't be able to live with this annoying squeak. Will update when it stops or with info about the returns process.Original review: This boot will be my everyday boot for work around my property. I've never owned a pair of Georgia Boots or any type of logger boot so was not sure if I would like them or not, but with free shipping and returns covered I thought I'd give them a try. I've only had them for three days, but so far I really like them. I have always worn a size 10.5 Wide boot and have had numerous pairs of Danner's while I was in the military and always liked them, but this 10.5 W fit better than any I've ever had before. Construction seems to be good and solid and the tread actually has stitching that goes all the way through the tread around the front curve which I assume is to help keep it from any possibility of separating which I saw had happened in a few different reviews. They don't seem to be as heavy as other steel toe, insulated boots I've had in the past which is a plus and they are actually pretty comfortable even with the normal stiffness encountered during break-in. I was a little concerned with whether or not I would like the higher heel on these boots, but found they felt very stable with no tendency for my ankle to roll to the side and now I think I prefer them to the lower heels on my Danner's.I only have two minor negative comments and they are the reason for the four star rating. First, where the tongue is attached on the inside of the boot, a little above ankle height on me on the inside of my leg, there is a little binding which occurs due to the thickness of the leather and the waterproof lining and this creates a slight "hot spot". The only way to cure this is I have to really take some time when putting the boots on to hold the tongue down tight with one hand while quickly tightening the shoelace around the first hook so the tongue can't bind up on itself. I'm thinking that with increased wear time this will work itself out and not be an issue as this is really the only discomfort I am experiencing with this new boot. Second, the color I ordered was "tumbled chocolate" which is a lighter colored brown according to the online pictures, but the color I received was much darker and looks like the "chocolate" color online. I didn't hate the color they sent and didn't want to go through the hassle of returning them, especially since they fit so good, so I decided just to keep them. The only other comment I have is that I wasn't really crazy about the fringe piece of leather that goes under the lower laces and had intended to just remove it, however what I didn't realize is that the tongue underneath this thing is a suede type of leather instead of the tanned leather that the rest of the boot/tongue is made of and I was concerned that without that added piece of leather the tongue wouldn't be waterproof. My solution was that I just moved it up, one set of laces so not so much of the fringe is exposed and more of the suede was covered. Unfortunately, even with it moved up it still doesn't cover all the suede leather on the tongue, but I definitely think it looks better than with the fringe hanging way out there though. For me, I would be much happier if they made the whole tongue out of tanned leather and skipped the fringe thing all together, but as much as I like the other great qualities of this boot I can live with this one minor thing.Overall, these are probably the best fitting pair of boots I've ever owned and I think they should have a good long service life. I will give an update if I encounter any problems as I put more hours on these boots, but at this point from my initial impression I don't expect to see any problems at all.Work at shipyard. As long as you get new arch supports in them they are great.Buy laces. Boots are outstanding. Durable, great support good traction. Laces are crap. Broke in about 6 months. Buy good laces.Nice fit. True to size. These are tough boots ready for work. They really have no break in, comfortable out of the box.High quality leather & support.Just know these boot weight 3 pounds each. They are not hiking boots.I expect 2-3 years of use out of them.If you want support, protection, & quality, wait no longer! Seller uses FedX only for delivery.Weight is accurate, I weighed them. But with steel toe, & shank, thick cow hide, they are great!Pro's- they are warm. its been about ten degrees below and my feet are not freezing off yet. - they are waterproof as stated. with walking through the snow for a couple of hours my feet stayed dry. - they look good, authentic. something you can also look good in at the small town bar. - good value steel toe boots that can serve a multitude of purposes.Con's- I ordered 11.5 wide. they sent the right ones but they fit and look like regular width. they are a bit tight but i think a couple of weeks wear and they should break it. - the material and tread is slick as $#%^ on the ice. walking on surfaces that are snow packed is iffy, i have to be extra mindful walking in places i normally dont have problems at. i have similar style boots that do not slide like these ones do. - these were new when they arived i made sure of it- but there was what felt like old foot indents in the insole. kind of like when you put on someone elses old shoes and you can feel where the shape of their feet depressed the material? it almost felt like that and still sort of does. i give it time and this will likely go away.UPDATE:after breaking these boots in, I have fallen in love with them. They arent as slick on the ice as they were when i first got them. I think walking around on gravel and other things probably wore that smooth finish off of the soles where i was having issues. I did slip once and busted my elbows up pretty good but i put a hello kitty bandaid on it and kept on.I initially bought these as my stow away hiking and bushcrafting only boots but they look so good and feel so good to wear that I have a hard time not wearing them about doing my normal everyday things. I have had aquantences stop me and ask where I got them, Its the "lumberjack" appeal of the shined brown leather that gets people looking. I mean, how often does a man look at another mans shoes?Anyway, These work great for me and I will definately be buying another pair for sure.I have been looking for a good looking and functional pair of work boots. I read all the reviews on Amazon. I would have to agree with all the positive reviews. One person mentioned that they changed the rating from 4 stars to 5 stars after wearing these boots after one week. I agree that this first week, the boots are uncomfortable around the front side of my ankles. I expected this based on a few of the reviews, but after just about a week of wearing them daily, they are now starting to break-in and man, I love these boots. I can’t even feel the steel toe in the boots. The boots are not as heavy as I expected. I have gotten them soaked in muck and water and my feet were bone dry. I am thrilled that I bought these boots. If there was away to break them in along the front ankle part where the leather overlaps with the tongue that would be a big plus. Last, I love the look of the leather kiltie, which ads so much style to these boots. I would highly recommend these boots, but don’t give up on them during the first week, as this is only downside, but it get so much better and these will be the only boots I will buy from here out.I’m over the top impressed with these boots. The leather is top quality, they fit perfect, very little break in time. I’m talking like a day on the job. That’s it! I greased mine up with some mink oil right out of the box. Use them for tree work, climbing with spurs. Long days on the feet. I’ll be purchasing again when needing another pair.only been wearing for 2 months, but really liking them so far ! there ageing well and are actually water proof. they are comfy to climb poles in too. Great boot for the price.I take a size 12 wide footwear and this boot is a perfect fit . The boot has a higher heal so you feel that your walking a bit taller in the back of the foot. I used the Hubert leather protector and it seasoned the leather nicely.I would buy again.I'm an arborist and I normally go threw 3 pairs of boots a year. But after 2 years of constant use their still going strong. I don't wear them in the snow tho as the bottoms are solid and can be fairly slipperyLove these boots. I've been wearing this model for almost two years now (this is my second pair, still have the old ones for mudding) and will keep buying them as long as they make them.
