I note that many 5* reviews tout the beautiful gift box packaging and I will echo that. Box is classy and the glasses are in individual cubbyholes in a thick cube of foam. They are very unlikely to break.My first impression looking at the glass itself in my hand was less thrilled. The glass seemed duller than expected. I looked at them again the next day and I had a similar feeling. I think my eyes were used to my fine crystal wine glasses. In many tiny ways that most people would not notice, these whiskey glasses were inferior. The box sat 30 days in my kitchen with the plan to return it. Today, I decided to keep them.I am not naive enough to think the glasses would look as nice as the advertising photos. I am aware these are lead-free crystal, so they do not have the higher refractive index that add sparkle (like diamonds). I think my eyes noticed this phenomenon first as the glass being "dull." However, when held up to light, the clarity is good. Another disappointment is that the "cut bevels" are more rounded than most glasses I have used. There are few firm edges to the bevels. For this price I did not expect true cut glass. I expected these manufactured by being blown into a ridged mold, as were my wine glasses. But comparing the two, this new product is an inferior mold. The pattern of the cuts is so similar to my wine glasses that most guests would assume they were part of a set. That similarity ultimately shifted me toward keeping the glasses. Most people will not notice the rounded bevels and the reduced refractions in this modern product. I do not know if this small inferiority is a limit due to the viscosity of lead free glass, a cheaper manufacturing process, or just the artistic preferences of the designer. As I said, I doubt most people would notice it and I do not know that I can find a better product that is lead-free. Certainly not at this price.The glasses have a large 3" cylindrical diameter which is not as comfortable to hold as my usual tumbler which is 3" tapering 2.25" at the base. I could not find exactly what I wanted on Amazon.Update:After a month of use, I am pleased with the sparkle under normal lighting. The difference between these and my leaded crystal stemmed glasses is not noticeable to the average person. So I have upgraded my rating from 4 star to 5 star. Not perfect, but worthy enough.I will note that the glasses are heavy, which has pluses and minuses depending on how you will use them. The heavy bottom, straight sides, and shorter height make them nearly impossible to knock over. They would be knocked off the card table first. The diameter is large, even for my hands that wear X-large gloves. So if you intend to hold the glass while standing at a party, and if you have small hands, they may not be as comfortable as a highball glass.
